Terms of Reading

Welcome to Reading Vehicle Hire Services. These Terms of Service (Terms) govern your use of our website carhirereading.co.uk and our vehicle rental services. By using our services

1. Reading Agreement

All vehicle rentals booked through Reading are subject to a detailed Rental Agreement provided at booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This agreement contains the terms, conditions, insurance details, charges, and your responsibilities for the particular rental. If there is any conflict between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

2. Reading Eligibility

To rent a vehicle from Reading, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old (Reading may apply different age limits by vehicle type, and additional charges can apply for drivers under 25). Hold a valid, full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category, held for at least the minimum period stated in the Reading Rental Agreement. Provide valid identification, proof of address and an accepted payment method when collecting the vehicle.

3. Reservations and Payment

  • Bookings can be made via our website, by phone, or in person at our Reading location. A booking deposit may be required to secure your reservation. Full payment and a security deposit are normally due when the vehicle is collected. All prices are in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable.

4. Book Collection and Return

  • You must inspect the vehicle at collection and report any existing damage to Reading immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by you and a Reading representative. Return the vehicle in the same condition as when collected, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be assessed and charged to your account under Reading’s damage policy.

5. Coverage and Liability

  • Basic third-party insurance is included with all Reading rentals. Full policy details and excess amounts are set out in the Rental Agreement. Optional insurance products may be available to limit your financial responsibility. Reading recommends reviewing these options before accepting the rental. You are responsible for damage or loss up to the applicable excess amount.

6. Cancellation and Revisions

Reading's cancellation and amendment policies depend on the booking type and the notice provided. Please refer to your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement for the specific terms that apply. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur fees.

7. Reading Restrictions

You may not use the rented vehicle for:

  • Any unlawful purpose or activity involving a Reading vehicle. Racing, rallying, off-roading, or other hazardous activities. Transporting hazardous or restricted materials. Sub-letting the vehicle to third parties or allowing unauthorized drivers. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Use for purposes for which the vehicle is not designed...

Breaching these restrictions may result in immediate account suspension and additional charges.

8. Limit on Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by English and Welsh law, Reading Vehicle Hire Services is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, data or business arising from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the total amount you paid to Reading Vehicle Hire Services for the service that gave rise to the claim.

9. Governing Law (Reading, United Kingdom)

Reading's Terms are governed by English and Welsh law. Any disputes will be resolved under the exclusive jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.

10. Updates to Terms

Reading may update these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon posting on the Reading website. Continuing to use Reading services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
